Fairhive Homes living in electric dreams with new addition to van fleet

Peugeot e-Expert becomes the first fully-electric van to be used by the Buckinghamshire affordable housing provider

JUNE 30TH 2022. FOR IMMEDIATE ISSUE

Affordable housing provider Fairhive Homes is hoping for electric dreams as it evaluates its first fully-electric van, a Peugeot e-Expert.

The 100-kW (136hp) e-Expert joined the fleet of 84 vans and four cars on Monday (June 27), operated by Fairhive, and will remain under assessment for the next few months.

With the need to keep a housing stock of 8,500 homes in quality condition, the demands on the vehicle fleet are high – Fairhive’s vans are on the road all day every day in and around Buckinghamshire and beyond, and carry all the equipment that could potentially be needed for a repair to a property.

Peter Gerity, Fairhive Fleet Manager, said: “With the demands on our van fleet, it’s important for any vehicle joining it to be reliable, cost-effective and efficient for the needs of our residents.

“We will fully examine how beneficial running the electric van is over the next few months,” he added.

The e-Expert has a range of 200 miles and can reach 80% charge in 30 minutes. Fairhive also runs four electric Renault Zoe employee pool cars.

The adoption of electric vehicles is just one part of Fairhive’s commitment to reducing environmental impact and improving sustainability. To find out more about what else Fairhive is doing, take a look at the company’s green strategy here: https://www.fairhive.co.uk/environment.
