An enjoyable Summer of Fun!
For the first time since the pandemic, we have been able to get out into our communities, for endless amounts of fun this summertime.
After the success of our Reconnect Fun Day in July, we were thrilled to be bringing back our Summer Fun week for our young residents and families. Our Summer Fun events are an opportunity to take part in a free fun activity across a week of the summer holidays organised and run by our Community Engagement Team. These events are perfect for all as sessions are suited to different age ranges across the week. This year we had a range from children that are as little as a few months old all the way up to 15 years!
Our first day was all about getting creative with Craft and Play where parents stayed and got involved with their children and chatted with us about volunteering opportunities and our Grants. Helen Wells, Grants Officer at Fairhive who attended the session added, “It was fantastic to remind our residents of our Grants Program me at Fairhive. We have recently seen a surge in applications which is excellent. If you are interested in finding out more about our Thriving Communities Fund, you can visit our Thrive page for all guidance and criteria as well as application forms.”
Alongside this the older children, took to the outdoors and faced the British weather for Skate and Scoot all of which took place at the Southcourt Family Centre in Aylesbury.
Next up was our Active Adventure Day for a midweek boost! The kids who took part got to explore the caves, learn how to abseil and practice making bush craft shelters which was a special way to reconnect with nature and pick up practical skills with Action4Youth at the Caldecotte Xperience Centre in Milton Keynes.
Gallop and Groom took place on Thursday to conclude the week at Horsewyse in Long Crendon. The team really enjoyed helping the children get stuck in with riding, tacking and washing the ponies ready for the fields.
Caroline Drew, Our Community Engagement Business Partner, said “Thank you to all our families and their children who attended this year’s Summer Fun. It was a successful week of events and we were so pleased so many of you could join us. A special thanks to Iva, Community Engagement Officer, for organising and running the events this year. We are looking forward to planning more activities and events so please keep an eye out on IMPACT”
