Thinking before Printing

We think before we print!

Taking steps to actively reduce our waste paper is very important to us as an organisation. We have a key aim to protect our environment and reduce our carbon footprint in as many areas as possible.

Since the pandemic, we have reduced our printing costs and energy costs substantially by improving our online document management to help employees go paperless. Our Residents News issues are emailed to as many residents as possible to reduce the amount of printed material we produce each year and also help reduce waste in your homes.

When choosing materials for printed collateral we will negotiate with printer companies to ensure our items are printed on recycled paper or materials with vegetable based inks which are less harmful to our environment. Our printers at Fairfax House are automatically set to black and white ink and double sided printing so our team or encouraged to think twice before printing multiple, colourful pages.

Ensuring these practices are enforced has meant we’ve been able to sustain more efficient processes which don’t cost the earth.

Some top tips for printing at home this new year:

Think digital – can your printout be emailed? Perhaps you have tickets to an event on your phone which can be scanned instead of printed.

Don’t waste pages – can you fit more onto one side? Maybe aim to decrease your document size if possible.

Consider your font choice – Did you know Century Gothic font cuts down usage by 30% compared to the Arial font?
